# of jumps: ~50
My first experience with skydiving came in late 2008 when a learning community leader of mine here at UC organized a tandem group my freshman year. After that first jump I immediately knew I wanted to get more involved in this awesome sport. I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Tyler Roemer, founder of the UC Skydiving Club and skydiver extraordinaire, who helped explain just that. A year later I began the process of obtaining my skydiving license and began my AFF course. Over the next *cough cough* 7 months, with the wisdom and guidance of our founder, I managed to rack up the necessary 25 jumps to become a licensed skydiver. I am now looking forward to another year with the club, friends new and old, and a great group of skydivers.
Skydiving is something everyone should experience, whether it be once or for the rest of their lives. It is an indescribable feeling and a rush that, for lots of us, is addictive. We do not have a death wish. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. The response of your body to the adrenaline and the feeling of freefall creates an unmatched sense of being alive. It is the perfect way to challenge yourself both physically and mentally, and experience that thrill and adrenaline that can only be obtained through the awesome sport of skydiving.
